explicitly political philosophy (epp): new opp blog series

epp

opp is exxxcited to announce that we are launching a new blog series called ‘explicitly political philosophy’ (epp)!

send us your explicitly political takes that help us to critically question what philosophy is and how we're doing it, in form and content. we want work that exposes implicit biases in philosophy & academic institutions / work that push disciplinary boundaries / work that takes philosophy & philosopher out of the armchair, into the world, in protest. we are not interested in being 'neutral' // we want philosophy to be a force for good and for change.

we are especially interested in pieces on the following themes and topics:

  • effective altruism (and especially its shortcomings)

  • misogyny, transphobia, racism, xenophonia & other forms of discrimination in philosophy departments, institutions, and curricula as well as philosophical practice and writing

  • sexual harrassment in philosophy and academia more broadly

  • decolonising the curriculum and our institutions

  • reflections on current political situations around the world

  • reflections from/on the black lives matter movement

pitch to the epp series a multimedia post, a visual essay, an interview or conversation, a poem, a creative reflection, and other creative pieces of work. we want to challenge the status quo in form and content.

we want to take a stand against injustice & prejudice. write for us.

pitch an idea to our blog coordinator at val@oxfordpublicphilosophy.com >> more info here
